App FAQ
Where is my data stored?
Only on your phone, in the app's local storage. There's no account, no cloud sync and no SlateAndSum server, so we can't see your data. See our privacy policy.
How do I back up or export my data?
CSV export is free: go to Settings → Data (CSV) → Export CSV files. The app creates CSV files (transactions, budget, debts, balance check-ins if you have any, and net worth) and opens your phone's share sheet so you can save them to Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive or email. The app doesn't back up automatically, so export regularly if you want your own copy. The columns match the SlateAndSum Google Sheets.
I'm switching phones. How do I move my data?
Export your CSV files for free on the old phone (see above) and save them somewhere you can reach from the new phone. Install the app on the new phone, restore Pro (below), then use Settings → Import a CSV file for each file. CSV import requires Pro. Your household name and plan start month aren't in the CSV, so re-enter them in Settings. Your phone's own backup or transfer tools may also carry the app's data over, but that's controlled by your device settings, not by the app.
How do I restore my Pro purchase?
Pro is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple ID or Google account. On a new phone or after reinstalling, sign in to the same store account, then tap Settings → Restore purchases (also on the Pro screen). This restores Pro only; it doesn't restore your budget data, which lives on your device.
I bought a SlateAndSum spreadsheet on Etsy. How do I get Pro?
Eligible Etsy purchases include an App Store / Google Play offer code, with instructions provided with your Etsy purchase. Redeem the code in the App Store (your account → Redeem Gift Card or Code) or in Google Play (Menu or profile → Payments & subscriptions → Redeem code), then open the app and tap Settings → Restore purchases if Pro doesn't show up right away. Codes are redeemed through Apple or Google; the app doesn't accept its own unlock codes.
How do I delete my data?
Go to Settings → Sample data → "Clear sample data / start fresh". This erases everything in the app on that phone and can't be undone, so export first if you want a copy. Uninstalling the app also removes its data. We don't hold a copy, so there's nothing to delete on our side.
What's free and what's in Pro?
Free: the full budget, Quick Add, the dashboard, up to 3 debts, and CSV export/backup. Pro (one-time $19.99, no subscription): up to 10 debts, net worth & FI tracking, and CSV import. Prices may vary by country and are shown in the store before you buy.
Does the app connect to my bank?
No. You enter amounts yourself, the same way the SlateAndSum spreadsheets work. The app is US dollars only.
I want a refund for an in-app purchase.
In-app purchases are processed by Apple or Google, so refunds are requested through them: reportaproblem.apple.com for the App Store, or your Google Play order history for Google Play.
Is this financial advice?
No. It's an organizing and estimating tool. Debt-free dates, FI dates and other projections are estimates based on the numbers you enter.
